Participation - FKI: Korean CSR Delegation to US

Ms. Angela Joo-Hyun Kang, Founder and CEO of Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF) was invited and partipated in FKI's Korean CSR Delegation to Boston and New York during April 10-18, 2010. The delegation was organized by FKI (Federation of Korean Industries) consists of 10 companies including subsidiaries of Korean Multinationals including Samsung, LG, SK as well as top Korean banking companies. The CSR Team of FKI led the delegation.

They participated in 2010 International Corporate Citizenship Conference hosted by the Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College. The Delegation also made visits to corporate headquarters of IBM, Pfizer and Timberland. Their corporate citizenship activities are widely known for advanced practices and innovative corporate innovations. Delegate members went to headquarters of City Year, a NPO known for national community service and heard about its mutually beneficial corporation-NGO partnership and CECP (Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy), a CEO membership organization specialized in corporate philanthropy.

Ms. Kang's roles were diverse, advising, coordination and translation. She was a former research associate of the Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College.

During the visit, after 2010 International Corporate Citizenship Conference, she led a debriefing session to all delegates and helped their understanding about recent trends of US and global corporate citizenship. The bebriefing session included implications to CSR in South Korea by comparing CSR strategies and practices between South Korea and US/Global. She authored the Conference debriefing report.

Chestnut Hill, Mass. (April 2010) – A diverse line-up of corporate thought leaders are gathered in Boston for the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship's 2010 international conference - the largest conference that focuses exclusively on the CSR challenges business faces.

This year's event, which has drawn some 500 business professionals, is titled “Corporate Citizenship: Winning a Seat at the Table,” and is focused on business strategy, best practices, and trends related to the role companies play in society, the value of having these efforts integrated across the company, and how difficult economic times are influencing business decisions.

The annual conference offers solutions to the challenges companies face through keynote speeches, breakout sessions and networking opportunities. A group of unique speakers, bringing new ideas and perspectives on the issue of corporate citizenship and social responsibility, has been assembled for this year’s event, which takes place at the Intercontinental Hotel. This year's speakers are:

# Nadira Hira, writer and commentator

The winner of the second annual Corporate Citizenship Film Festival was announced at the April 12 conference dinner featuring award-winning producer John Hoffman, vice president of HBO Documentary Films.
