Angela Joo-Hyun Kang, Founder and CEO of Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum: G-CEF) was appointed as one of advisors of Presidential Council on Nation Branding (www.koreabrand.go.kr) on July 9, 2009.
Presidential Council on Nation Branding was launched on January 22, 2009. Its Chairman is Euh, Yoon-Dae, former President of Korea University and the Council consists of 47 members - experts and leaders including 10 ministers, the CEOs of Korea’s major corporate icons such as Samsung, LG, Hyundai, and SK, the mayor of Seoul, many eminent scholars and experts, and even a famous jazz musician.
It is supported by the Secretariat, headed by Kim, Keun-Soo, Assistant Chairman of the Council and the staff composed of government officials from the related ministry offices and managers of private corporations specialized in branding, PR and marketing.
The Council’s mission is to coordinate and oversee government policies related to nation branding to facilitate effective implementation, to foster cooperation with the private sector and to enlist the support and participation of the general public by focusing five areas; Korea’s contribution to solve global issues, fostering a multicultural society in Korea, tourism and culture, technology and enhancing global citizenship among Koreans.
There are two advisory groups. One is international advisory group consisting of country managers of American, European and Asian corporations and other prominent expatriates in South Korea. The other is domestic advisory group consisting of experts in advertising, PR, marketing, branding, design, international cooperation, arts and culture, which Ms. Kang is in. Its first forum took place at the Lotte Hotel on Thursday, July 9.
