Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF) organized the Fair Player Club Seminar for Compliance & Business Ethics of International Construction Industry in seminar room 9-10, 2nd floor, Ferrum Tower on December 11, 2015
It was co-hosted by International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) and Global Compact Network Korea (GCNK), organized by Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF), endorsed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE), Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) and sponsored by Siemens Integrity Initiative.
This seminar was the fifth education seminar of Fair Player Club (www.fairplayerclub.kr), a public-private sector platform to promote compliance and business ethics. International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) co-signed with the industry associations of automobile, electronics, machinery, railway for cooperation in the launching ceremony of Fair Player Club on May 19, 2015.
The seminar started with the opening speech of PAEK, Young-sun, Vice-Chairman of International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK), IM, Hong-jae, Vice President and Secretary-General of Global Compact Network Korea (GCNK) presented regarding 'Introduction of Fair Player Club and Global Anti-Corruption Trends', and Angela Joo-Hyun KANG, Founder and Executive President of Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF) presented regarding 'Trends of Compliance & Business Ethics of International Construction Industry’. Also, JEONG, Joong-weon, Former Commissioner of Korea Fair Trade Commission and Former Vice Chiarman of the OECD Competition Committee presented ‘Anti-corruption Efforts in International Construction Industry’ and PARK, Jong-kun (Ryan), Regional Compliance Officer, Siemens Ltd. Seoul introduced their company cases regarding Compliance & Business Ethics. and AHN, Yang-min, Deputy General Manager, Daewoo E&C shared their company cases regarding Compliance & Business Ethics.
PAEK, Young-sun, Vice-Chairman of International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) said, “In order for the international construction industry to advance into a higher value-added business, Compliance & Business Ethics is no longer a choice, but a necessity.” He also added, “I hope, this seminar will help international construction industry to comply with international standards in anti-corruption practices as well as to bolster Compliance & Business Ethics in conducting businesses.
IM, Hong-jae, Vice President and Secretary-General of Global Compact Network Korea (GCNK) said, “This seminar is a proven evidence of International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK)‘s willingness to raise awareness of Compliance & Business Ethics in international construction industry, as a cradle to nurture fair play spirit through Compliance & Business Ethics.” He added, “I hope this seminar can be a driver to prevent and manage corruption risks effectively by empowering business strategies. Through this seminar, I hope that companies in international construction industry can participate in Fair Player Club, a platform for anti-corruption and clean and fair business through Collective Action.”
Angela Joo-Hyun KANG, Founder and Executive President of Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF) said, “International construction industry is being magnified on the international society. It is important to construct reliable images, not tainted by corruption and irregularities, as a new growth engines based on technical skills and Compliance & Business Ethics.”
JEONG, Joong-weon, Former Commissioner of Korea Fair Trade Commission and Former Vice Chiarman of the OECD Competition Committee presented on ‘Anti-corruption Efforts in International Construction Industry’ and operating international construction of Korean companies in view of Business Ethics.
PARK, Jong-kun (Ryan), Regional Compliance Officer, Siemens Ltd. Seoul shared their company cases regarding Compliance & Business Ethics such as Siemens Compliance system, Siemens Compliance Organization, and Collective Action. Through these cases, Siemens showed that Compliance is their top priority. and AHN, Yang-min, Deputy General Manager, Daewoo E&C presented shared growth, the programme of leading indicators and the programme of improving safety level with cooperative companies on HSE-Q (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality).
All participants received the Seminar Completion Certificate issued by Global Compact Network Korea (GCNK) and 'Fair Play Rule Compliance Package of the Fair Player Club Seminar for Compliance and Business Ethics of International Construction Industry'.
